In the Shadows
by Richard L. Provencher Billy has a laboured drag, wheel-chair in tow and his body anchored in pain he arrives slowly down the sidewalk, even weaving at times. Walkway too narrow with portly passers-by barely shuffling past, their dignity in check. Not minding them at all, this young man has felt the pang of sad moments too often, now a veteran of bruised feelings a nuisance at times in a crowd wheels stuck in slow motion; yet, there is gain in the pain as sunset ends the day, and tomorrow it may rain.
