Stepped Up To Serve
by PamFord Davis Today is a legal holiday. In America, we set aside this day to honor our veterans. As admirable as that is, I believe it is insufficient. They deserve daily recognition. Such dedicated men and women have made countless sacrifices in order to protect our homeland. Setting aside selfish ambitions, our veterans stepped up to serve. Tragically, many veterans gave their lives in battle on foreign fields. Some were buried in those countries in unmarked graves. At home, Old Glory marks the place of countless graves in cemeteries across our land. Service is at the heart of Christianity "And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; foryou serve the Lord Christ (Colossians 3:23-24 NKJV)." Those who served, in any of the branches of the military, now serve as examples to you and me. Jesus is the ultimate example. "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many (Mark 10:45 NKJV)."
