If in Doubt
by PamFord Davis "But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him (Colossians 3:14-17 NKJV)." 'Be thankful.' Am I listening? Apostle Paul told believers to let peace rule in their hearts; in addition, he said to be thankful. Can peace rule in my life if I fail to be thankful? I think not. I'm encouraged by his segue to the emphasis on God's word and music. I find countless reasons for gratitude when I abide in His word. Praise and thanksgiving are interwoven in the Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. If in doubt as to when I should be thankful, Paul clears up any confusion. "And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him (Colossians 3:17 NKJV)."
