I’m guessing most of us have felt like this when put down…
‘I’ve got my pride!’
Is that a healthy attitude?
“Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall (Proverbs 16:18 NKJV).”
The book of Proverbs provides insight. Pride can develop in individuals and in nations as well. Patriotism is admirable; yet, pride is sinful.
“Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, And do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles; Lest the Lord see it, and it displease Him, And He turn away His wrath from him (Proverbs 24:17-18 NKJV).”
Pride is perilous; humility honors our Creator God.
“For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith (Romans 12:3 NKJV).”
Woe is me, I’ve got my pride. How can I overcome it?
“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:6-7 NKJV).”
He cares; He forgives.
