A VERY SERIOUS CRIME

She cherished me from the very day that I was born
She loved to show me off and really blow her horn! I have not seen her in years, I wonder how she is? She used to be very smart and a mathematical whiz. I think I'll go and see her tomorrow if I find the time She always showered me with love that was sublime. Days became years as she waited and hoped I would come by To return her awesome love before she had to die. I just heard she had a stroke and was in Intensive Care! I rushed to the hospital to let her know I was there. She was in a coma and fighting a battle she would not win Suddenly I was overwhelmed by my selfish neglectful sin! She never regained consciousness and it became quite clear She could not hear the "I love you" I whispered into her ear. I watched them lower her into a cold dark grave Now it is too late to return all that love she gave! God sends out a warning in this simple rhyme To take love and never return it is A VERY SERIOUS CRIME! Lewis E.
