Slow Motion
by PamFord Davis

Movie and television directors frequently rely on slow or fast motion scenes. The Six Million Dollar Man and Bionic Woman used slow motion in all of their programs. I find that interesting. Slow motion symbolized power; their supernatural strength was demonstrated through very slow movement.

I tend to react to criticism and cutting words way too fast. That reveals a lack of control in my life.

The Holy Spirit produces self-control.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.  If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-25 NKJV).”

I need to control my tongue; to think about my responses, to take it ‘slow’ and easy.

“So then,my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.

Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls (James 1:19-21 NKJV).”
