Peculiar People
by PamFord Davis

Strange, weird and peculiar…

Have you ever felt out of place in a large group of people? I’m uncomfortable mingling in crowds. We all have an innate desire to fit in; to be liked and accepted. If we sense others consider our appearance or personality unusual, we feel uneasy. Who wants to be peculiar? Yet, there is something to be said about being peculiar.

God looks upon peculiar people in a favorable light.

“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee (Titus 2:11-15 KJV).”

While some consider the godly life peculiar, Christ followers know better.

If you are God's child, ‘peculiar’ means godly and that he has set you apart for his service.
