Don't go back to Eden
by Emmanuella Ellis There is one thing that we all seek and wish deep within our hearts that we could have forever. As impossible as it is to have this priced possession forever, we still strive to devise a way to have it. And to think we often make jokes about the choices Adam and Eve, the very first humans made. Why would you pick the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil instead of from the tree of life, we would joking say. To have a life forever with death any where in sight is what we desire. Adam and Eve are viewed through our eyes as not being entirely smart to make the choice they did. The best they could do was to avoid the fruit at all cost so that we didn’t have to be crippled in the shackles of you know who. But if they decided to eat the fruit why not pick that from the tree of life we would think. Obviously, we would have made a smarter decision, if we were in their shoes since we have all the confidence to criticize their actions. But we really aren’t as smart as we think. If we really desired to live forever, which we do, everything we are trying to do with technology, you would think we would be smart enough to take it when it handed to us on a silver plate. But no, we would rather turn away from it, a gift we don’t deserve and try to find our way back to Eden to get the tree of life. And how are we trying to get there exactly? We are doing everything in our power through research and technology to find out the way to get eradicate death. In doing this and hoping in the ways of men, we are trying to pave our way back to Eden to get the fruit from the tree of life. We are eager to fix all the problems we have created from the past until we get to the point where we would figure out the exact way to stay alive forever. We do this in the hope of finding some fruit, some drug, technology or concoction that will solve our biggest problem. Well, news flash, we can never get there. The only way we are going to have life eternally, has been presented to us. It is Christ or nothing. There is no way we are ever going to find that “something” which will grant us this desire. It’s an impossible task and somehow, we have not realised it. Going to Mars is not the solution either. Certainly not all the creams and medical stuff you need to stay younger as if that would ensure that you live longer. That said, we don’t even deserve that forever life to begin with. Not after what the world has come, we have filled it with self centeredness and shoved God out of it. Where love has evaporated from the surface of the earth and the heart of man is so evil. Being prevented from having a chance to eat the fruit from the tree of life was for our good than we thought. Imaging having to live forever in this world filled with pain and hurt because the heart of man is evil. But God is a good God. That even in our sin, disobedience and ignorance, He has, in His mercy, grace and compassion offered as a gift which we don’t deserve. Paying the prize, we had to pay, a high price indeed to offer us what our hearts so long for. Life forever, life eternal through salvation. And not just any life but life in His presence forever. Its unfathomable what God has done and given us. And if we were really as smart as we make ourselves to be, we would gladly accept this gift. By believing in His Son Jesus Christ who died on the cross for take away our sins, give us the power to life a victorious life over sin crowned with eternal life. Trying to have the life by doing some sought of work is an endless and unfruitful journey especially when its being handed right to us. Trying to live a moral life and being certain moral rules and principles to get the chance to live forever in Heaven is still the same as trying to pave a way to Eden to get the tree of life. Because there is no way you can have the righteousness of Christ which is what God desires, without Christ. For no one is good, not even one. Life forever is available to us now and you would think we would just take what we so long for when its being handed over to us for free. But no, we would rather pay with our lives in the hope to receive something that we would never get. Eternal life is available, there is no need to go back to Eden, the God who provided it in Eden is offering it to you now. It’s free, just have faith in Jesus, the Son of the God who created and loves you so much. He is offering it to you with hands that have been pierced for your sake, a heart that beats for you, and eyes that longs to see you happy not just for now but forever. Its closer than you think, only if you would believe. It is love, and life bundled up in the most unique and satisfying way. Take it, you know you want it. Although, I want you to take it because you need it. This is the truth I have to come receive and I want you to have it as well. Let nothing or no one stop you. God doesn’t want to be in Heaven without you. Even much more, He longs for you to experience a life with Him, an awesome one right here on earth. I love you, but God loves you most.
