Refresher Course
by PamFord Davis

Most Baby boomers remember the 3 R’s. Our teachers repeatedly taught us lessons in reading, ‘riting and ‘rithmetic. We learned education fundamentals from our instructors.

Do we need a refresher course on 3 R’s of salvation?

I refer to the LORD’s redemption, reconciliation and restoration.

Christ followers are redeemed through His shed blood.

“We have redemption in Him through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace that He lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.  He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure that He planned in Him  for the administration of the days of fulfillment—to bring everything together in the Messiah, both things in heaven and things on earth in Him (Ephesians 1:7-10 HCSB).”

In Him and through Him; Jesus reconciles the rebels.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, and look, new things have come. Everything is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: That is, in Christ, God was reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed the message of reconciliation to us (2 Corinthians 5:17-19 HCSB).”

We are reconciled with the Father; He restores broken lives.

“Now the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will personally restore, establish, strengthen, and support you after you have suffered a little (1 Peter 5:10 HCSB).”
