It is a shame we have to grow up so very fast!
Because we lose the ability to "forgive" that we possessed in the past!
I remember the fights me and my siblings had when we were very young!
When we said cruel things to each other with our tongues!
Everytime we had a fight with one another!
Mom and Dad used to make us kids kiss and make up and hug one another!
I remember we "never held grudges" because we "forgave each other" and we let it go!
And the "next day" we would be playing together again, don't you know!
Why is it so easy to forgive others when we are tender young souls?
And so difficult to forgive others as we age and grow old?
"In some ways, as we age we become much less wise!"
We begin to hold grudges and learn how to tell those little white lies!
Why is it that a husband and wife can can forgive "each other" after a quarrel or two?
Yet cannot find "any forgiveness" left over for others like me and you?
If a husband and wife fail to maintain a relationship that continually forgives!
A divorce would certainly come, and together they could no longer live!
Why is it we can practice forgiveness to our spouse to let those peddie offenses go?
Yet choose to hold a "life long grudge" against former friends and relatives that we know?
"Oh that God, would give me the heart of a little child again!"
So that I can "forgive" instead of clinging to unforgiveness with a grudge that The Lord calls sin!
