Towel dried…

I remember the first baths that I gave our newborn children. They needed sponge baths until their navels healed. Our daughter and son looked so small and fragile. I was almost afraid to touch them. The baby baths did not take long.

After lathering their bodies, I dipped clean wash cloths in tepid rinse water to finish their cleansing. Then when it was time to dry them off, I picked up a soft towel.

Jesus took a towel…

“Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come forth from God and was going back to God, got up from supper, and laid aside His garments; and taking a towel, He girded Himself.

Then He poured water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded (John 13:3-5 NASB).”

I can only imagine the atmosphere in the room. The Master was washing the feet of His disciples. He performed the act of a servant. With tenderness, He washed their dirty feet. Finishing, He dried them off with His towel.

I wonder…

Did the towel hold the warmth of Jesus body after clinging to His waist?

I rubbed baby oil on my children. Did Jesus anoint their feet with oil?

Yes, I wonder; I worship.
