AS A MAN THINKETH IN HIS HEART
by Lewis E. Thomas

AS A MAN THINKETH IN HIS HEART

I was awakened by the clock radio going off hearing a man preaching God's word!
My heart was instantly moved by what I heard!

"What soever a man thinketh in his heart so is he!"
"That profound truth is as true as true can be!"

It is the total sum of all our thoughts that defines us within!
Are our secret thoughts holy thoughts or thoughts of sin?

If we think on sinful thoughts we will be sinful in our nature towards others!
We will commit evil acts against strangers, and our sisters and brothers!

If we discipline our minds and destroy evil thoughts as soon as they enter our minds!
We will please God and walk in a way holy and devine!

If we meditate on holy things, evil words will never leave our lips!
If we can get our thoughts right we can tame our tongue and steer our fleshly ship!

Are our daily thoughts consumed and dominated and focused on us?
Do we put our thoughts for the needs of others in the back of our mental bus?

We cannot do right if we don't think right!

Those are words once spoken by a friend!
If we don't think holy we will always be found commiting sin!

Would Jesus think on unholy things?
We are commanded to follow and be like Jesus the King of Kings!

Would Jesus let profanity spew forth from His mouth like a beast?
How would profanity sound coming from the lips of our High Priest?

Profanity is birthed in a mind that is still under carnal control!
Profanity can destroy a Christian testimony and destroy the soul!

Those things we think on that we keep hidden away!
Will one day be exposed to The Light of day!

Those thoughts others can't see that we harbor secretly inside.
DEFINE THE REAL US THAT WE TRY TO HIDE!

We can have our whole circle of family and friends deceived!
But God "sees every" unclean heart and it makes Him grieve!
