Holding My Hand
by Linda Jackson When I was very young I wanted Jesus, I stepped into the isle I didn't know a new life had begun Old things passed away Teachings I would learn later in life Your guiding hand Lord through my sin and strife A new creature had been forming in me for a while From the second I wanted to be with You To this very day Your words stand true You entered my young broken heart Your original formation of who I would be I'm only an original with You in me Walking down that isle You holding my hand, did the angels smile? Years later loving eyes yet sad This new creation was struggling, picking fruit gone bad Through forgiveness, to me Your plans would come So thankful You wait and call in love I answered Your voice, I know it well You taught me Truth, so eager to tell To share how the corruption of my past Is now a broken mold that was cast Renewed in the spirit of my mind In awe that Your thoughts are in mine
I must burn the old rags of self Take the golden box from off the shelf Slowly open, viewing a breathless sight Through the power of Christ I must put on this refurbished life A shimmering garment in the likeness of God Diamonds dangling bright Inlaid with emeralds of righteous light A belt of rubies, shining in holy Truth This all began as a loving Father took the hand Of a frightened youth LJ/18 2 Cor 5:17 Eph 4:21-24
