STRANGER ON THE OVERPASS
by Lewis E. Thomas STRANGER ON THE OVERPASS My wife and I had finished doing some things in town and were on I-10 heading home!
And I saw a man on an overpass ahead standing and looking my way all alone!
He carried a large backpack that was huge as he propped his arms on the short wall!
As the cars and trucks passed beneath him he was looking at them all!
I passed underneath him within a mere few seconds of time!
And what I felt when I saw him moved me to write this rhyme!
My life and his life came "close" for a few seconds of fleeting time!
But, something about him touched my heart within those few seconds of time!
As I continued driving on down the road heading home...
I began to silently pray for that "unknown" traveler that was on the overpass alone!
I said, "Lord, I'll never, ever, see that stranger again!
"So, I ask you to save him and all his house from the plague of sin!"
"Lord, I claim his soul for the Kingdom of God in Jesus name!"
"Lord, Reach down and save him so he will never be the same!"
"Lord, let my prayer be an unseen lasso that reaches out and wraps around his soul!"
That will pull him out of sin and take him to your Streets of Gold!"
"Lord, don't let my prayer for him ever be forgotten or fade away!"
"Lord, please remember these words that I pray for him today!"
"LORD, I STILL SEE HIM STANDING THEIR IN MY MIND!"
"LORD, PLEASE REACH DOWN AND SAVE HIM WHILE THERE IS STILL TIME!
STRANGER ON THE OVERPASS...
