TO BE A DIVINE VOICE
by ONOME OGBAJIBREDE

Scriptural Reading: Proverbs 31:8-9

‘‘The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;’’  Isaiah 61:1 (KJV)

As a preacher of good news, I have always spoken on the path of righteousness. I could recall some time ago in my former parish, there were these three members of the church who were coming to the church; one of them was an usher. These three brethren were coming to the church with their lovers and I was hammering on the word, letting them know that living together with a woman whose bride price has not been paid is a sin before God. One day, God arrested them and before I left that parish, they had to pay those women’s bride price. I thank God for the courage to speak without fear.

God has anointed every believer to speak and to condemn wrongdoings and to plead the cause of the helpless and to defend the right of the poor and to deliver the souls of those that have been appointed to destruction through speaking the word. God wants us to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves and also for us to judge righteously.

God is a fearless judge that judges righteously and He speaks against sin and He is willing to open every prison gate for the spiritual prisoners for them to regain their freedom. And He wants us to speak for the voiceless and to correct the sinners whenever they err, to bring succour to the afflicted.

In being a voice to the voiceless, have we taken side with the mighty and have been afraid to speak good tidings? God has ordained us to be His ministers here on earth and to always give words of hope to the hopeless and to encourage one another. Here is an anchor scripture for application as well. Proverbs 31:8 (KJV) Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.

Dear Lord Jesus Christ, please forgive me in every area, I have refused to be a voice to the voiceless and I have been afraid to speak hope to the hopeless. Amen

To be a divine voice is to be a spiritual activist that speaks the mind of God with confidence.
