Kingdom Building
by PamFord Davis

If I'm not mistaken, Jesus is called carpenter only once in scripture.

“Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us? So they were offended at Him (Mark 6:3 NKJV).”

Many saw Jesus only as a local boy; following in His (earthly) father’s footsteps.

Jesus had worked alongside Joseph in the occupation of carpentry.

In kingdom building, Christ Jesus built the church and transformed lives. Construction continues. It requires no hammer or nails; only the penetrating sword of His cutting word. He sands off rough edges with the ‘plain’ truth.

The carpenter is calling laborers to carry on His work. Daily, they expand the dimensions of His church. He has promised His Holy Spirit power; witnesses can spread His word and pack the house!

“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth (Acts 1:8 NKJV).”

The Son of Man is carpenter, Master builder. He alone holds the blueprints.

Yes, this is the carpenter, the Son of Mary!
