House Warming
by PamFord Davis

My husband and I have moved countless times.

That’s not merely a figure of speech or braggadocios.

In the early years of our marriage, we averaged a move every six months. I’ve often quipped about not doing spring cleaning; we just moved. We’ve lived in apartments, houses, mobile homes and travel trailers. We have rented and bought houses. Yet, in over 50 years we have only had one house built.

It was the mid 1970’s and we were living in the Louisiana Delta town of Lake Providence. We didn’t move across the tracks; we moved across the lake. Our dream house began with hopes, prayers and blue prints from East Carroll Lumber Yard. We watched construction excitedly and friends hosted a house warming after we moved in.

“By wisdom a house is built,
And by understanding it is established;
And by knowledge the rooms are filled
With all precious and pleasant riches (Proverbs 24:3-4 NASB).”

Friends and neighbors friends showered us with house warming gifts. We were grateful.

Do I express my gratitude to God?

He continues to bless us wherever we reside.

The LORD has richly blessed us.

“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen (Ephesians 3:20-21 NASB).”
