NOTE ABOUT MY POETRY
by Lewis E. Thomas God gave me the gift to write poetry after I became a Born Again Christian! I can only write poems when God gives me the inspiration to do so.
I have been awakened in the early morning hours with words and lines for a poem in my head/thoughts. Couldn't go back to sleep until I got up and wrote the poem out.
Many times as I began to write the words more words would come until the poem was finished!
I retired five years ago from Florida State University.
After I retired 6 months passed and I had not written one poem during that time.
I prayed and asked God to forgive me if I had offended Him in some way! I asked God to please send me more poems!
Within a day or so he sent me 3 poems back to back!
The first I titled "WHEN MY WELL RAN DRY"!
The very next morning I dropped my wife off at work and as I was driving away I turned on my car radio!
A Christian station was on and began playing a song by the singing group called "CASTING CROWNS"!
One of the lines sang, "Like a tree planted by the river our well will never run dry!
I heard that and had myself a little revival inside my car!
I felt the "POWER OF GOD" all over me in those few precious moments!
ABSOLUTELY AWESOME IS HE!
If I'm not writing poetry for HIM I feel out of place!
Many times after I had written a new poem the very next Sunday at Church the Pastor would preach on the same massage my poem had in it!
To me that was confirmation that my poems were inspired by God!
