Meet Your Maker
by PamFord Davis

It’s a sure sign of aging. This morning I went to my doctor’s office for an annual Medicare assessment. During questioning, a nurse asked if I have a living will. Does she know something I don’t know? No, I don’t think so; she was just doing her job.

This following scripture passage would serve as a beautiful last will and testament. Preparing for death, the Psalmist prays to his living LORD.

“Nevertheless I am continually with You;
You have taken hold of my right hand.
With Your counsel You will guide me,
And afterward receive me to glory.

Whom have I in heaven but You?
And besides You, I desire nothing on earth.
My flesh and my heart may fail,
But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever (Psalm 73:23-26 NASB).”

The Psalmist’s praise serves as a testament of abiding faith. His health was failing. Yet; God provided spiritual strength. He was ready to meet his Maker.

“By the sweat of your face
You will eat bread,
Till you return to the ground,
Because from it you were taken;
For you are dust,
And to dust you shall return (Genesis 3:19 NASB).”
