When I Go To Grandma and Grandpa's House
by Tonja Taylor

When I go to Grandma and Grandpa’s
I’m always excited to see
Lots of God’s creatures from the
Woods behind their house ----
A delightful menagerie.

I see cardinals, thrushes, robins, and wrens,
One robin stays through thick and thin;
And bluebirds with their songs so sweet;
Woodpeckers striking trees for something to eat.

There’s a pair of tanagers, green and red;
The “mystery bird” that sings when it’s time for bed;
Hoot owls and whippoorwills;
A green lizard that jumps off the roof for thrills.

The white cranes stalk the fish and walk tall;
The bullfrogs exchange deep-throated calls;
The wood ducks make a yearly nest.
Matilda” the turtle likes people food best.

Squirrels and spiders watch from the trees,
Deer appear to enjoy the breeze.
Foxes and wolves like shadows go by;
The skunk family scatters at Grandpa’s strange cry;

Raccoons search through the scraps for delicacies-
God’s creatures make up this menagerie!

Through books, courses, presentations, service, prayer, worship, and more, Tonja and her husband live to exalt God. Her series for girls, P.O.W.E.R.
