Lord: Please don't expect me to pay my tithes faithfully or to give to any special needs!
Because there are just "too many" things that I "PERSONALLY" need!
You see, I just have to have a "Brand New Ride" at least every other year!
And I have to pay for my "NEW BASS BOAT" and keep it gased up and filled with a little cold beer!
I know my Church needs a new roof and a coat of paint and some new hinges for the doors!
But giving up my hard earned dough for those kinds of things is something I deplore!
And Lord, I know you understand when I skip a Church Service or three for goodness sake!
I just have to be out there fishing "all day" when those "STRIPER BASS" are biting on the Lake!
I had to let my tithes slide for six months this year Lord, but I have a good reason you see!
This year I just had to save up for one of those "HUGE", 70 inch FLAT SCREEN T.V.'S!
My Church attendance will "resume" after this year's "HUNTING SEASON" is over and done!
Lord, you know when I'm in my deer stand on Sunday mornings I'm thinking about you and your Son!
Please understand Lord, my needs supercede the needs of missionaries, the homeless, and those hurting, down, and out!
Like last year when I got so bored, that I just "had" to redecorate "every room" in my house!
Lord, you know I cannot afford to give your Church too much of my silver and gold!
Because I have to save a little back each month to cover my families tickets to the "SUPER BOWL"!
Lord, I know the Holy Bible forbids fornication and "SHACKING UP" outside of holy matrimony!
But isn't your Word a little "behind the times" now and filled with a lot of "unpopular" baloney?
Weigh these words God gave me for this poem "carefully" after you close this rhyme!
Do they describe "you" and your self-serving "unfaithfulness" to God at this point in time?
