How to Please God
by Tonja Taylor

Many times, you will hear your parents and your pastors and teachers at church talk about pleasing God. What that means is to trust in God's plan for our lives, and obey Him (Prov. 3:5-6, I Peter 4:1).

God's Plan is always good for us (Jeremiah 29:11). He is Love (I John 4:8) and He is faithful!

"[They are living memorials] to show that the Lord is upright and faithful to His promises; He is my Rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him."-- Psalm 92:15

The LORD makes His plan for us simple to understand (2 Cor. 11:3). He wants us to know how to please Him, because He loves us and wants to bless us with a wonderful life in every way (Jer. 29:11)!

The first step is this: To believe that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and ask Him to forgive and cleanse us, and come in our hearts and be our Savior and LORD (John 3:15-17; Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23; Romans 10:13).

Many people worship many gods, and think Jesus is just "one more god." NO! Jesus is God, and through faith in His pure blood shed on the cross is the only way any person can truly please God and get into Heaven (John 1:1; John 10:1,7,9; John 3:15-17)!

Just like our parents are pleased with and love us because we are born into their family, God is pleased with us when we are born again through believing in His Son Jesus.

After that, we please the LORD and earn rewards by spending time with Him, trusting and obeying Him, and loving others.

We will talk about these in parts 2 and 3.

How are some ways that you already know you please God?
