Parents and teachers use Time-out to discipline preschool and kindergarten youngsters. Its effectiveness is debatable. Often parents send older children to their rooms. They want sons and daughters to admit they were wrong; to correct their attitudes and actions.
Teenagers? They cringe at their parents’ correction; you’re grounded! Has God sent us to our rooms?
Have we been grounded?
“Go, my people, enter your rooms and close your doors behind you. Hide for a little while until the wrath has passed. For look, the Lord is coming from His place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity. The earth will reveal the blood shed on it and will no longer conceal her slain (Isaiah 26:20-21 HCSB).”
According to Wikipedia 56 million babies are killed yearly by abortions. Their blood was shed; they were slain. God will hold all accountable. Violence is rampant in cities. It is not a gun control problem; murder begins with a heart problem.
“Then He said, ‘What comes out of a person—that defiles him. For from within, out of people’s hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immoralities, thefts, murders, adulteries, greed, evil actions, deceit, promiscuity, stinginess, blasphemy, pride, and foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile a person (Mark 7:20-23 HCSB).”
God has sent out a person-to-person call.
Go to your room.
“But when you pray, go into your private room, shut your door, and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you (Matthew 6:5-6 HCSB).”
Praying to know…
Is sin always the issue?
No.
“Neither this man nor his parents sinned, ‘Jesus answered. ‘This came about so that God’s works might be displayed in him (John 9:3 HCSB).”
God is working through our Time-out.
