BURNING BRIDGES

 

I am a "troubled soul" today and as I look back into my past...

I am blind to the reason "why" when I should be clearly shocked and aghast!

 

I cannot see that I am reaping a due whirlwind from the unholy seeds that I have sown!

My past is filled with "Burning Bridges" and abandoned relationships that I had "once" cherished and known!

 

Today my business is failing and I am without any home of my own!

Yet, I continue to do things "MY WAY" because the rebellion in my heart is "VERY STRONG"!

 

My rebellion against God continues to haunt my tired and weary soul!

But still, I continue down that "same old road" carrying a "very heaven burden and load"!

 

I continue to destroy relationships with my immoral, selfish, and unchristlike deeds!

I "cannot see" my need for the Lord above to come down and "save me" and to interceed!

 

I'm "BURNING BRIDGES" as I go, and I'm leaving a big "WAKE OF CHAOS" and "hurting" relatives and former friends behind!

I've been right at "DEATH'S DOOR" more often than I like to admit, and "I AM QUICKLY RUNNING OUT OF TIME"!

 

"Please pray for me every day and lift my name up high to God above!"

Please ask the Lord to reach down and SAVE MY SOUL" and to fill me with His "AWESOME LOVE"!

 

I have a recurring nightmare on this dangerous path I continue to trod!

 

* I KEEP DREAMING THAT I JUST BURNED MY LAST BRIDGE TO GOD! *

This poem inspired by a friend I pray for daily.

 

Burning Bridges:It comes from the idea that if you use a bridge to cross a river and then burn it, you can't get back over the river if you need to do so in the future. The saying means you should never make it impossible to return to somewhere or to someone because you may need to go back that way.
