Cardiac Arrest of the Spirit
by Helen Murray

My heart is arrested by

The brilliant light.

I stop, turn my heart

In a Moses moment?

“What is that?” I ask

As my eyes rest upon

A single drop of dew

Reflecting light from the sun

With such power and joy

I must dance and sing.

‘Tis what God can do

With an inanimate thing

To get my attention,

To speak to my heart.

Adonai, I am listening.

What, now, is my part?

If God can do that

With a single water drop

What could He do

If a refreshing place fronts up

To the Light of the Son

Shining all members through

What will then be done

With the heavenly dew?

Why, the gaze of the town

Will be directed to

The greatest power there is

On this earth a man can know.

“Tis the Truth that will shine

On the shaded hearts of men

Offering light to their world

To arrest their hearts again.

If a human has the courage

To bathe in its light,

Gone will be confusion.

Doubt just lost the fight.

Courage is its hall mark,

Game the Aussie style.

Watch out tomorrow!

It’s a Sonshine smile.
