Family life was slower paced in the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s.
Most women were contented to be housewives; they stayed at home to care for their children and run the household. Second family cars were rare and many women didn't even have a drivers license.
During the week, men of America worked in varied occupations in the towns and cities or from can-to-can’t on the family farm.
Children attended much smaller schools and looked forward to Saturday play. Teenagers crammed for exams; on Friday and Saturday nights they crammed into jalopies for rides to ball games and sock hops.
Come Sunday, it was Sunday go-to-meeting.
“For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God Than dwell in the tents of wickedness. For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold From those who walk uprightly.
O Lord of hosts, Blessed is the man who trusts in You (Psalm 84:10-12 NKJV)!
Sunday go-to-meeting…
“… not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching (Hebrews 10:25 NKJV).”
I hope to see you there!
