After my friend shared the phrase God told her, I imagined a scenario and wrote a poem about it! So here we go:

God said, a little exasperated, cause already today, while I worried about paying the bills and if my hair would do right, if I’d make it to work on time, if the boss would be pleased with my work, etc. 

“You trust Me with eternity—(John 3:16, Romans 10)
Now trust Me with today.

You trust Me when you sleep—
Just trust Me when you wake!”

I’ve
Trusted that my heart would keep beating through the night
Trusted when I flipped the switch that I’d see a light
Trusted that gravity would hold me down
Trusted that the mirror would show me me
Trusted that my kids would give me a smile and not a frown
Trusted that the chair would hold me up
Trusted that, in America, I am still free
To open my Bible and see
That I can rest in trusting Him and not me

I've trusted
Trusted that the company that made my eggs and bacon
Were truly practicing quality control and not fakin’
Trusted that the microwave would heat

Trusted that after that I'd have something to eat

Trusted that the car would start
Trusted that the office would still be there
That they’d still know my name

Now trust Me with today.

You trust Me when you sleep—
Just trust Me when you wake!”

Yes, LORD, help us to trust You as much when we're awake as when we sleep!
