Surely a Song
by Tonja Taylor

26 God said, Let Us [Father, Son, and Holy Spirit] make mankind in Our image, after Our likeness, and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the [tame] beasts, and over all of the earth, and over everything that creeps upon the earth. 27 So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them. -- Genesis 1:26,27, AMPC

Surely a song

must have risen from his heart

The day Adam awoke

And saw Your holy face

Surely he gazed

In wonder at Your beauty

And its many facets

Reflected in creation

And then in the bliss of meeting his bride,

He found one like him

With whom he erred

But even when

Marked by Your mercy

The two were exiled

From the Garden of Blessing

Covered by Your bloody Grace Grace

You overshadowed and multiplied them--

And spilled Your Love on the cross

To redeem all the human race

Surely a song

Rises from our lips                                                                                                                                                                                             As we praise our LORD
