“Peace I leave you, My peace I give you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, nor fearful (John 14:27 NASB).”
Did you have an unruly child? Maybe you’d confess to being one yourself as a youngster. Children often misbehave. They know the rules set down by parents but choose to do what they want. Wise parents step in to correct and redirect. They will not let the child do just as they please.
I must not let my heart be troubled, nor fearful.
Jesus has given me His peace.
The decision is easy; I must correct and redirect my feelings from fear to faith.
My heart cannot be trusted.
“The heart is more deceitful than all else And is desperately sick; Who can understand it (Jeremiah 17:9 NASB)?
Who can I trust?
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6 NASB).”
But what if I get afraid?
I need You, Lord.
“When I am afraid, I will put my trust in You (Psalms 56:3 NASB).”
