His Healing Touch
by PamFord Davis

As a child, dolls were my favorite Christmas presents. I’m sure Mom and Dad gave me other things but the dolls stand out most in my memory. One year, one of the Ford kids got a doctor kit; it could have been me.

There’s one thing I know for sure; I played with it. I’m guessing it had toy replicas of the usual things found in a doctor’s bag; stethoscope, thermometer, tongue depressor and injection needle.

If I’d been a licensed physician, they would have been sued me for malpractice. I stuck the plastic injection needle inside my younger sister’s ear and she was bleeding. My parents were concerned enough to rush her to our family doctor.

He diagnosed the problem as a punctured ear drum. I don’t think it was serious but it must have been painful. Many people have very serious medical problems. They may go to specialists for years; yet, they find no relief from pain and suffering.

“And a woman who had suffered a chronic flow of blood for twelve years, and could not be healed by anyone, came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped. And Jesus said, ‘Who is the one who touched Me?’ And while they were all denying it, Peter said, ‘Master, the people are crowding and pressing in on You.’ But Jesus said, ‘Someone did touch Me, for I was aware that power had left Me (Luke 8:43-46 NASB).”

His healing touch…

“And He said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace (Luke 8:48 NASB).”
