Quick Tip for Better Beauty
by Tonja Taylor

If you're in your mid-fifties, like me, you may sometimes want to see how your hair and makeup look close-up to others.

I went to a dollar store and bought a pair of 3.25 reading glasses--for just $1. They magnify things so I can see the little specks of mascara under my eyes--that my natural eyesight may have missed--as well as other things I may want to remove or change about my makeup, or even my hairstyle.

A magnifying mirror works well, of course, especially a lighted one. But this simple "trick" can help you feel even more confident about your appearance.

Remember, though, as the LORD has helped me to do many times through the years, that (1) we are not here to dress for others, although we want to show the LORD and others respect by dressing well, attractively but modestly, to the glory of God; (2) everything we see is going to burn up; (3) we are, when we're born again by believing in the LORD Jesus as our Savior and LORD, daughters of the King, Who loves us eternally and perfectly, no matter what we look like; (4) the real us is a spirit, which is eternal, unblemished, and at peace; and (5) charm and beauty fade, but our love and honor for the LORD will last forever (Proverbs 31:30).

When we are born again, we are hidden with Christ in God!

The enemy, who is himself the tormented one, loves to try to put his torment (fear, anxiety, reproach, shame, guilt, condemnation, anger, envy, jealousy, etc.) off on us. You can ask the LORD to help you be aware of those thoughts, then to resist them in the Name of Jesus when they start, and think on good things. He is faithful; He will help you!

Hold your head up and be confident--not in your appearance, for all flesh is as grass, and Heaven and earth are passing away, but the Word of God will never pass away--and know that God loves you and is for you (Romans 8:31)!
