Mom Was a Whiz
by PamFord Davis My Mom was a whiz at word games; family and friends knew that she was usually a winner at bridal and baby showers.
I remember that she was an avid viewer of the Wheel of Fortune program and worked TV Guide and newspaper crossword puzzles. I don’t recall her playing Scrabble but can’t help but wonder what words she would have formed from the letter z. Personally (as a baby boomer) the first thing that comes to mind is ‘Z for Zorro!’ Maybe, instead of relying on memory I should renew my mind through Scriptures. Z for zealous… How zealous am I? Am I diligent, faithful and fervent? “Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality (Romans 12:9-13 NKJV).” Am I ready, willing and zealous? “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works (Titus 2:11-14 NKJV).” Published articles in Mature Living Magazine, Devotions for the Deaf, The Secret Place, Coosa Journal, Mary Hollingsworth's The One Year Devotional of Joy and Laughter, Jo Krueger's Every Day in God's Word. http://www.pamforddavis.com http://www.faithwriters.com/member-profile.php?
