I LOVE THOSE YESTERDAYS!
by Lewis E. Thomas I LOVE THOSE YESTERDAYS! I love those yesterdays way back when...
When we said "Yes Mam" and "Yes Sir" and steered clear of Sin!
Those yesterdays, when we said the Lord's prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance every day in School!
Those days when we honored our flag and thought a "FLAT TOP" hair cut was really cool!
I love those yesterdays when I walked with my Grandfather into the woods to bring back jugs of water from a nearby "SPRING"!
Those days when we built those Forts in the woods and pretended we were some powerful Monarch or King!
I love those days when my Daddy gave me and my brother our first BB guns!
We occupied ourselves with those things for hours and hours, having lots of fun!
I love those days when our school campus didn't have any kind of dangerous drugs on our grounds!
Those days when we had no school shooters "FULL OF HATE" lurking around!
I love those yesterdays when we could leave our doors unlocked without one worry or care!
Those days when we knew that when we got home all our possessions would still be there!
I love those yesterdays when we spent our summers on the Ochlockonee river
off on those hot summer days!
Those days when we had no video games and yet occupied ourselves in many different ways!
I love those days when we got together with our neighbors to play softball for many hours!
Those days when we played out in the rain during those wet and warm "Dog Day" showers!
I love those yesterdays when me, my brother, and my sister caught minnows that we found swimming in a nearby Creek!
Those days when the girls at my school thought being a virgin until marriage was virtuous and really neat!
I could go "ON AND ON" about my yesterdays until folks deemed me to be strange and odd!
My yesterdays were "AWESOME TIMES" and they were "PRECIOUS GIFTS" given to me by God!
I love those yesterdays...
