HUMILITY IS ATTRACTIVE

The relationship between humility and beauty is clear, as well as that of humility and wisdom, as the Scriptures reveal. Humility is an illustration of God’s Love, which is beautiful and is relatable to wisdom because the prideful cannot hear His Voice, but the humble do not suffer from that blockage of heart and mind and are free, therefore, to hear Him. The humble see God’s Majesty and All-Knowing Power, while the prideful are too busy boasting of themselves; believing they know everything there is to know and gazing at their own reflections to even notice God’s Majesty.

Contrary to humility, pride is not at all attractive, but ugly, even downright unseamly…..so much so that even their established and admirable physical beauty is lessened, as the truth of their character seems to seep through their flesh and become visible on the outside for all to behold. It takes away from their physical beauty in a lasting way, due to boasting and turning off their ears and eyes to God’s Superior Ways of wisdom and the captivating beauty of servanthood.

Micah 6:8, Mark 9:35, Philippians 2:3 & 4:20 Galatians 5:13, 1Corinthians 1:28-29, 1Peter 3:3-4 & 8, Ephesians 4:2, Colossians 3:12, Psalm 25:8-9, Proverbs 22:4 & 29:23

Moreover, God’s Word also illustrates the results of pride; the polar opposite of humility: Matthew 6:2

And Jesus Himself is our humble, beautiful Example: Matthew 11:29-30:

Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:5-11)

Through all of these passages, the beauty of humility is clearly illustrated.

Furthermore, pride radiates outward to quite the ugly enigma, while humility is utterly, but mysteriously beautiful. Those who are humble have an attract-ability like nothing of this world, for this inexplicable state of attractiveness comes only from our Lord Jesus: The Most Beautiful and most Powerful Entity; spanning not only this world and all of Heaven, but the entire universe. Outer beauty becomes more pronounced, and physical flaws less prominent, as the spirit abides in Christ, regardless of the outer appearance….

And it’s through this attractiveness of humility that Jesus draws His people to Himself.
