Thanksgiving Therapy
by Tonja Taylor

Being thankful sounds so simple, but it can be hard in challenging circumstances. However, once we develop the habit, it is easier, and when we choose to be thankful, we can get the victory much sooner!

Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of that will].--I Thess. 5:18, AMPC

Please notice that the verse does not say to give thanks for everything! God commands us--for our own good, of course!--to be thankful to Him in every circumstance, because He is with us and for us and will somehow work everything out, as only He can do.

Always remember that God is good and all good, and if something is truly bad, it's from the enemy and not God.

Thank Him always, in all ways, and you can start your day with a Thanksgiving journal, then flip through it when you need extra reminders (like I did this week, especially early in the week!) that God knows and sees everything, and will work all for good for His kids, Who truly believe in what the blood of His Son, Jesus, did for us (Genesis 50:20, Romans 8:28). Hallelujah!

I keep certain journals, and sometimes have opened one randomly, and have been pleased to see that, through the years, I may report negative, but usually end by thanking God it wasn't worse, and that He is making things better. I end on positives, and know He is good, all the time!

Why wait till the end of November to be thankful? Thanksgiving is every day, and being thankful is an effective therapy and way to draw closer to God!

O taste and see that the Lord [our God] is good! Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who trusts and takes refuge in Him.--Psalm 34:8, AMPC
