Best Romance
by Olawale Ogunsola

Romance is a word given so many meanings and interpretations. It means different things to different people. One undeniable truth is that Romance cannot be divorced from love. Where there is love indeed, romance must accompany it to exploit optimal benefits from it.

Let me reiterate it here that what I mean by love is the REAL LOVE which comes naturally from the Creator of Heaven and the Earth. I don't talk about love-look-alikes; that is:LUST and EVIL DESIRE. These share many things in common with love but they are evil and are for destruction.

On the other hand, love preseevs lives, brings joy into them, people in love, and it never fails.

1 Corinthians 14:1-8 throws more light imto what constitute love. Love is expected ro reign supreme among people who relate with each other most importantly couples.

Love has its distorted versions: lusts and evil desires, as pointed out earlier.
So it is with the institution initiated and maintained by the Creator, if allowed. It is sad to note that Satan, the Devil, has introduced various distortion of marriages to mankind which they embraced to their own destruction because every form of marriage not initiated by God is an abomination in the sight of the Lord.

So in this comtext, when I say couples, I mean those who are joined together with the love from God, a male and a female.

If there is distortion of love and marriage, will not there be that of romance? Therefore, when I mention this word, it is not intended to fuel immorality or something close to that. That is why I want to bring in the observation and declaration of Mitchel Qualls which runs thus:
"What is 'romance' in marriage? Romance is the ongoing mission of making your spouse feel special. To know what makes your spouse special, you have to be a student of your spouse. Now I don't mean being a student like in school when you learned just enough to pass a test, then forget it all the next day.

Romance: Romance in marriage is a lifestyle. It is not confined to one day in February, but it's a daily choice to be selfless and put your spouse first. It's intentional - and it's not expecting anything in return. You need to be a lifestyle learner of your spouse. What does this mean? Start with these questions,
*What do they enjoy?
*What do they desire?
*Their dreams.
*What makes them feel loved.
It is the little things as well as the big things. Part of being a lifelong learner is discovery."

Now, if you can do such a great thing to a fellow human being who can be taken away anytime suddenly, I think you need a better Personality to Whom you can express your love and romance.
Why Do You Have To Embrace Him?
"For you were bought at a price,..." 1 Corinthians 6:20a. In most nations of the world, it is mandatory to pay a bride price on a young lady before she finally becomes a wife to the man who made the payment. So also you have been bought at a price.
What Does He Desire?
Like in any marital relationship, hearts are given away. He also desire your heart to love Him, Proverbs 23:26; Mark 12:30.

What Does He Enjoy?
His praise and thanksgiving, Psalm 92:1-2; Isaiah 42:8; Psalm 22:3.

His Dreams
*To give you new names, Isaiah 62:2
*To take you to where He is in His Kingdom, John 14:1-4.

What Makes Him Loved.
Obedience, Deuteronomy 28:1-2Isaiah 1:18-19.0

Encounter: Every relationship as a starting point. There is always a meeting point. For this relationship that provides the best romance to commence calls for your determination to forsake your past lifestyle that has not been glorious to embrace a new life that will never come to an end.

Not only this, you must invite the Fellow who paid the price on you with His precious blood, His name is Jesus Christ. Be prepared to submit to His authority for the rest of your life.

Do you know what? Every lasting relationship is guided by dos and don'ts. Where this is lacking, the relationship can crumble at any time. That is why Amos 3:3 discloses,
"Can two walk together unless they be agreed?"

That is the reason for the provision of A Relationship Guidelines that you must go through regularly. This is otherwise called, THE HOLY BIBLE.

Although the word "Romance" is alien to people of the kingdom of God but there is an alternative word that produces similar but far better results than Romamce. This important word is Meditation.

As stated at the commencemet of this piece, Romance involves a life long learning. Knowledge acquired must be applied daily.
Not only this, time of romance provides an uncommon period the dig deep into the heart of your spouse. This was the similar time when Delilah knew the true source of Samson's power. Although she used it against the man of God, Judges 16:1-19.

This was using the right weapon to fulfill evil desire. This ought not to be so.

In the same vein, Meditation is a strongly powerful means of getting into the heart of your Creator. Deuteronomy 29:29 states,
"The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law."

This secrets can only be revealed in quiet and lonely place with your Lover, who happens to be your husband. Isaiah 54:5 confirms this:
"Fot your Maker is your husband,
The Lord of hosts is His name;
And your Redeemer is the Holy
One of Israel;
He is called the God of the whole
earth."

As a result of this, there ought to be a time earmarked for intimacy. This is expected to be a time to know your your Loved One more. It is a questions and answers time. It is time to know the deep things of the Lord Who loves you with an everlasting love.

Examples:
"Romance" time with your Maker has not just started
Don't forget that I mentioned earlier that MEDITATION is the word that is popular among kingdom candidates.

Let me begin with father Adam in the garden of Eden. It was the Lord Who visiited him in the garden of Eden in "cool of the day" (Genesis 3:8). This could not be the first time when the Lord came calling on Adam. It must have been a custom between the two.

The Holy Bible records about father Isaac when he was still single,
"And Isaac went out to meditate in the field in the evening;" Genesis 24:63.

It was a time of deep interaction and revelation. Note the time, in the evening. Pay attention to the venue, in the field. Do you have a provision like this with your Maker Who loves you?

Father David, the Psalmist of Israel, who was reknowned as "a man after the heart of God" was an expert in maintaining a constant rapour with his God. It was during such close interaction that gave rise to Psalm 15. He inquired during meditation, romance with his God,
"Lord, who may abide in Your tabernacle?
Who may dwell in Your holy hill? verse 1.

It was King David's desire that prompted this vital question because he wanted an improved relationship with his Creator.

Did the Lord leave him in the dark? The answer is No!" This is because he received an answer that runs thus,
"He who walks uprightly,
And works righteousness,
And speaks the truth in his heart;
He who does not backbite with his tongue,
Nor does evil to his neighbour,
Nor does he take up a reproach
against his friend;
In whose eyes a vile person is despised,
But he honors those who fear the Lord.
He who swears to his own hurt and does not change;
He who does not put out his money at usury,
Nor does he take bribe against
the innocent.
He who does these things shall not be moved." verses 1-5.

Is this not a deep revelation during meditation?

He wanted to know how to please the Lord, and He itemised the steps to take. What next?

Application!

Whatever is revealed during meditation calls for putting it into action for the rest of your life. You can not derive any better benefits from any other source. One beautiful thing about a "Romance" with your Creator is: it is everlasting. Begin today and enjoy it forever.
Stay bleased and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
