Like Jesus, Like You
by Faith Jansky

Once a little boy was asked,
As he sat on his daddy’s knee,
“When you are big and grown up,
What do you think you want to be?”

The boy was still, deep in thought;
There were ever so many things,
That he could do, or become.
To this world, what would he bring?

Then he smiled, and looked up,
And answered, with tones clear and true,
“I want to be like Jesus,
Which I think, is a lot like you!”

“I think it’s more important
Who I am, and if I love God,
Than what big things I could do,
To gain other people’s applaud.”

“I want to be kind, and love;
Honest, and faithful; patient too.
I want to show forth Jesus,
To so many others; like you!”

His daddy smiled, through tears,
And his heart overflowed with joy!
“You’re right, that’s most important.
More than any other employ!”
