What Does Christmas Mean to You?
by Tonja Taylor

8 Therefore, [there is] now no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are in Christ Jesus, who live [and] walk not after the dictates of the flesh, but after the dictates of the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life [which is] in Christ Jesus [the law of our new being] has freed me from the law of sin and of death.

3 For God has done what the Law could not do, [its power] being weakened by the flesh [the entire nature of man without the Holy Spirit]. Sending His own Son in the guise of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, [God] condemned sin in the flesh [subdued, overcame, deprived it of its power over all who accept that sacrifice], 4 So that the righteous and just requirement of the Law might be fully met in us who live and move not in the ways of the flesh but in the ways of the Spirit [our lives governed not by the standards and according to the dictates of the flesh, but controlled by the Holy Spirit].--Romans 8:1-4, AMPC

God is so good!

Although some scholars say that Jesus Christ, the Messiah, was really born in the spring, some experts state that the Roman government mandated that the Christians celebrate His birth December 25.

Regardless of the date, what we really celebrate is God's colossal love, mercy, and faithfulness to sinful mankind!

God made the earth just right and abundantly supplied for Adam and Eve. They were also created perfectly, in His image (Genesis 1). However, they listened to the enemy, who was jealous of them, and they committed treason against God.

He could have forsaken or even destroyed them, for the sin they'd committed by agreeing with the enemy instead of God.

Instead, He chose to shed the blood of an animal, and temporarily covered them.

Yearly animal sacrifices were required from then on, to cover the people's sins.

Then, at the proper time, God sent Jesus to earth, to be born of a virgin, and to be raised as a Jewish son, whom, as it is written, learned obedience by what He suffered.

He was obedient to go into full-time ministry when He was 30, then spent over 3 years teaching and preaching the Word, and doing signs and miracles to show people how much God loves them.

Then, He--the King of kings, and LORD of lords; the great I AM, Who had never sinned--allowed Himself to be taken into custody as a common criminal, condemned, and crucified on the cross, so that His pure blood could flow and cleanse us in every dimension, and make us whole; so that, when our bodies die, our spirits will go to Heaven and be with the good, good, LORD forever!

Hallelujah!

So yes, let us enjoy being with family and friends (God created families, even before government! Genesis 1), and good food and festivities, for the LORD loves us to celebrate His blessings!

Let us remember, most of all, that Christmas is truly about Christ Jesus the LORD, our Messiah, our Savior, Who came to rescue us from hell, death, and the devil, and to give us abundant life forever with Him Who is all the goodness of Heaven!

10 The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it a]">[overflows).--John 10:10, AMPC
