Staggering with exhaustion;

she’s been up all night, and--

the pangs of regret hit hard;

staring at empty colored bottles,

that seem to torture and tease from her front yard.

BUT, she can’t even remember last night

or any other she’s been facing,

she only craves further numbing;

paid for by highs she can’t stop chasing.

In her dizzy haze

she only flounders;

not sensing the weight of the Lord’s stare,

or the evil plans of her enemy,

who only dreams to keep her there.

As long as she craves

only counterfeit joy,

she will only fail

herself

AND her little boy.

SO, the Lord, He waits. He watches

even in His great dismay,

He calls her to seek His Face,

to show her joy never to stray.

Joy that lasts and doesn’t require

artificial means;

joy that surpasses her every desire.......

and secret dream.
