A Mother Procures It
by Olawale Ogunsola Parents have great roles to play in the lives of their children, most especially mothers. Every serious woman should be very serious about her home. Sadly, so many women are more occupied with the trivialities of life and competition with men than the great roles assigned to them by the Lord their God. One such assignment is molding their children's destinies for the glory of God. What happened? He said that he had five other friends that made a group of six members. These six jolly friends used to buy things in common. They resolved together to buy whatever next thing they needed. One noticeable thing was that out of the six, this man of God used to be the first to buy his own of anything they resolved to buy. At a point, they decided to buy a bicycle each. He was the first one to buy his own. Then the other five friends wondered and asked, "Why is it that you are always the first to buy whatever we decide to buy?" His shocking reply was, "You cannot compare yourself with me. I am walking on a tarred road while you are the one constructing the road on which you will walk. This is so because of my mother's relationship with God. She has paid certain prices that pave the way for my smooth sailing in life." His other friends were speechless! The question is, "What happened to the mothers of the other young men that prevented them from walking uprightly with God to benefit their children also?" Trivialities and competition! As a mother who not only wants her children to prosper but to excel among their peers, having a smooth relationship with the Lord is significant. In doing this, obedience to His commandments or instructions is of great importance. One such is to love her husband and submit to him. This brings the children of such a mother into a better position before God and the husband. It is only a crazy man who will not love a wife who loves and is submissive to him. This will, by all means, reflect in the father's love towards the children. Love procures love and breeds the same. This was the case with King Rehoboam, Maacah one of his wives, and Abijah the son of Maacah. The Scriptures reveal, Think deeply about it. The verses quoted above made it known that there was an exchange of deep love between King Rehoboam and Queen Maacah. It was the unique love that separated her from other women in the palace of the King. This unique love separated Abijah to occupy the throne. Do you know that it all started with Maacah? It was her thoughts, words, and actions towards the king that ignited or fuelled the unquenchable love for her which benefited her son. Among many women, she was the only woman who was a Queen and got promoted to become a King's mother. My beloved reader, are you ready to buy a good future for your children? You can do it by your relationship with God and your husband. Be different among women. Be focused. Seek the best for your children and get it. Love your husband and get the best for your children from him. He may not be a king over a nation or city but he is a king over his household and you are the Queen. Your husband has certain authority which was given to him by the Lord which he can exercise over the children and this can influence the position of each child in the future. Note.
