Family
by PamFord Davis

There is a strong bond between Christians.

God has adopted us as His children.

We are family.

Do lyrics of a 1970’s hit song come to mind?

Topping out at #2 on American charts Sister Sledge’s; ‘We Are Family’ was released in 1979. It reached gold status as listeners sang along. Lyrics spoke of a close relationship between sisters.

I have both brothers and sisters in Christ.

Am I a sister that offers succourer to many?

Phoebe was!

“I commend unto you Phebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea:

That ye receive her in the Lord, as becometh saints, and that ye assist her in whatsoever business she hath need of you: for she hath been a succourer of many, and of myself also (Romans 16:1-2 KJV).”

Succor?

What is that?

Encarta Dictionary: English (North America): ‘to provide help or relief to somebody or something in a difficult or unpleasant situation.’

All people experience difficult situations; we don’t have to muddle through.

We are family.
