YOUR LITTLE CLOWN
by linzy bruno

I made you a gift with a letter in it.

I wrote you a poem with care.

I woke up alone and I cried for you.

And then, for you, I said a prayer.

I built my whole world around you;

I led you to the promised land.

I wrote a song all about you;

I wrote your name in the sand.

On the beach, I built you a castle.

I walked up each step, like your clown.

You opened the door and you smiled at me,

But your smile was masking a frown.

So as I sit and you laugh at me,

your words evening up the score.

I cry aloud, but for the last time;

I’m not your little clown anymore.
