Even as I sit,

I see the lost

and inquire,

“Oh Lord will they ever wake

and travel a new and better road;

a divine journey never to forsake?”

Then I cry out,

“Emanuel! They’re right outside my window pane;

strolling and chatting,

running and planning;

ever striving for worldly gain!”

Knowing lost souls may perpetually wander,

aimlessly across every shore;

seeking pleasures destined for death,

forgoing theTrue One

all believers adore;

It does indeed set my believing eyes to crying;

crushing my heart, as they pursue every whim,

continuing down strange and lonely roads

my spirit aches for them,

and for HIM!

And even heavenly hosts may perhaps grieve,

at least as far as I know,

and the souls of believers shudder and shake

and angels may hang their heads low….

For sadness will come to hearts and minds

who love Jesus;

desiring souls to win for life' sake,

with tears growing larger,

getting caught, as we ponder,

our spirits do perpetually ache.
