SOMETHING ABOUT CHRISTMAS PRESENTS
by linzy bruno

God loves a cheerful giver, as the Apostle Paul has declared—

So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheer giver.” (2Corinthians 9:7, nkjv)

Giving out of love for one another is of God. In our modern day western culture, we have made a practice of gift-giving for birthdays, showers, and other special occasions, but there’s something about the gifts we give and receive at Christmas time that stands out from every other occasion of gift-giving.

Furthermore, there is a similarity between birthday and Christmas presents, inasmuch as Christmas is essentially Jesus' Birthday. However, the gifts we give to one another are concentrated solely on one person, while Jesus Birthday is a special occasion for the whole world.

And, therein, we derive the title of this occasion of writing.

That certain something in regard to the uniqueness of the Christmas present from all other presents is when we give Christmas gifts to one another we aren’t celebrating an individual’s life on earth, but the salvation of all mankind, which is eternal life.

Secular society may turn Christmas into a celebration rooted in materialism and the excitement of the senses, but even in that arena, people feel that special and unique difference between the Christmas gift as compared to any other sort of gift, even though they may never fully understand as to why that is. This could even explain why it’s common practice in secular society to give Christmas gifts in the first place considering they fail to acknowledge any sort of cause for the occasion, or the tendency they have to keep up their Christmas decorations, particularly outdoors, all the way until spring and beyond!

This could be due to the fact that those who claim atheism and the like, feel the true meaning of the occasion deep down inside, but for some unfortunate reason do not desire to learn the Truth, possibly afraid of that revelation regarding the special and unique reason most of the world celebrates Christmas.
