Reason To Rejoice?
by Faith Jansky

What reason have I to rejoice,
When my life seems dark and drear;
When all things feel so uncertain,
And my heart is filled with fear?

What reason have I to rejoice,
When I cannot see God’s hand?
When I seem to walk in darkness,
And can’t fully understand?

What reason have I to rejoice,
When my heart is filled with pain?
When I fear my life’s tomorrows;
Lest they bring more loss, again?

What reason? Oh let me tell you,
Even if I can’t tell all!
First of all, I have a Savior,
Who hears my voice, when I call!

He it is, Who has pardoned me;
Yes, each sin that I have done!
He, Who loved before I knew Him,
And Who gave, for me, His Son.

What reason to rejoice, you ask?
My name has been written down;
For I’ve been adopted by Him,
The KING, of the highest crown!

Now God is my Father, and Lord,
And I gladly bow my knee,
That I may please and honor Him,
Who gave His own life for me!

What reason to rejoice? Oh yes,
God works all things for my good;
He will never, ever leave me,
Though many another, should.

His promises are firm and true,
Even when I cannot see.
He holds my hand, and with me walks,
Through sunshine, or stormy sea.

What reason to rejoice? Let’s see;
My God sees me through His Son;
Perfect; holy; even blameless,
As I learn, this race to run.

Not by my own merit, but His,
I come before God’s great throne,
With humble, yet confident faith;
For I know I am His own.

What reason to rejoice? I know,
If I look at things below,
My heart sinks in deepest despair,
And like Him, I cease to grow.

But I fix my eyes on Jesus,
And all He has done for me,
My heart rejoices beyond words.
So now, can you start to see?

My heart delights to be His own;
Called and chosen by my Lord!
What reason have I to rejoice?
More than mere words can afford!
