I had my introduction to Wellies boots in rainy England. My husband and I made our first trip abroad to visit with our daughter, son-in-law and their two young sons. Our grandsons, Justin and Matthew wore Wellies and rain coats when walking to their nearby school. Preschooler Matthew proudly showed Granny his colorful Wellies.
Well… Wellies might not be a household word in Northeast Louisiana. Here, I’d guess rubber boots are described simply as mud boots. I found a colorful polka dot pair at a thrift store and wear them often during cold and rainy weather. Recently, my boots became the topic of conversation.
I was at my doctor’s office having a routine visit and she checked my ankles for swelling. Finding room to slip her hand inside the partially removed boot, she discovered matching socks. Laughing, she said I had polka ‘dot’ boots and socks! I assure you, my fashion statement wasn’t intentional. God is intentional when fulfilling every ‘jot’ in His law and commands.
“For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 5:18-19 KJV).”
