Your Tent Can Flourish
by Tonja Taylor

The house of the wicked will be destroyed, But the tent of the upright will flourish. - Proverbs 14:11, NASB95

Tents are mentioned almost 400 times in the Bible, and we still use them today. A tent can be a temporary housing, and as I've learned, can also represent your body.

Just like you want your precious kiddos' bodies and souls and hearts and houses to be safe and healthy and strong, so does Daddy God (He's our Father when we repent of our sins, ask the LORD Jesus to forgive us and cleanse our hearts, and be our Savior and LORD!) want both kinds of your tents to thrive!

So, according to the unchanging, eternal, infallible Word of God, the tent of the upright will flourish; will thrive.

We must be "upright" for our tents to thrive. So what does that mean?

First, God is absolutely upright. He is Light. There is no darkness in Him.

“The Rock! His work is perfect, For all His ways are just; A God of faithfulness and without injustice, Righteous and upright is He. - Deut. 32:4, NASB95

To be upright means to be justified; right with God. This only happens when we have truly realized that we have sinned against the holy God, Jehovah--the Creator and Sustainer of all life; the Sovereign LORD of the universe; the only One Who upholds all things by the word of His power--repent (ask God's forgiveness for breaking His laws), and ask the LORD Jesus, His Son, to cleanse our hearts with the pure blood He shed on the cross of Calvary, over 2,000 years ago, to save all people from their sins. (But we each have to make that choice for ourselves, to choose to believe and receive what God did!)

For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. - Romans 5:6-9, NASB95

No other 'god' has done that for anyone, and not only did Christ Jesus (the soon-returning King!) die for all, He rose again after three days and now lives in Heaven, to pray for the uprigth--all who have received Him as Savior and LORD!

Hallelujah!

So, to be upright is really very easy! We just choose to believe that we have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (since Adam and Eve fell in the Garden of Eden, all people are born into the sin nature. See Genesis, the first book in the Bible.), but that Jehovah, in His truly awesome mercy, sent Jesus to earth to live as a man, to experience everything a person would or could, then to become the sins of all people for all time (We can never understand that! We have to choose to believe it!), so that all people (if they so wisely and eternally choose!) can become the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus!

But now apartfrom the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those [fn]who believe; for there is no distinction; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; - Romans 3:21-24, NASB95

So, won't you use your personal power, and choose to be upright with the God Who loves and created you, and Who wants a precious relationship with you--right now? You'll be eternally glad you did!

Light arises in the darkness for the upright; He is gracious and compassionate and righteous. - Psalm 112:4, NASB95
