He'll Carry You
by PamFord Davis

I wonder if Paul Anka's 'Put Your Head on My Shoulder" inspired the makers of Head and Shoulders shampoo... Canadian born Anka wrote and sang his 1958 classic and the song is still popular today. Put Your Head on My Shoulder reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Not to be topped, Bobby Darin, New York City native held the #1 position with Mack the Knife.

Do you remember putting your head on a sweetheart’s shoulder? Maybe your memory goes back to childhood and climbing up into your daddy’s lap. You snuggled up close; got sleepy and put your head on his shoulder. Nestled in comfort, you fell sound asleep.

As many get older, sleep is often an escape from depression or grief. Upon waking, memories resurface and tears often flow. Feeling lost and broken… you find comfort in the nape of a best friend’s neck. We rely on their strength and compassion in our time of need.

Jesus is a friend like no other.

Put your head on His shoulder.

He’ll carry you.

“And so He told them this parable, saying, ‘What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the other ninety-nine in the open pasture and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it? And when he has found it, he puts it on his shoulders, rejoicing (Luke 15:3-5 NASB).”
