Children are a gift of the Lord. I’m blessed to be a parent of adult children, young adult grandsons and growing great granddaughters. They’re my pride and joy!
I especially enjoyed their early years. I cherish memories of rocking babies and reading to them as they grew into the toddler stage. Many milestone steps to maturity were recorded for posterity in baby books, snapshots and home videos.
God created man as part of His perfect plan and purpose.
… “then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature (Genesis 2:7 ESV).”
Are we the Creator’s pride and joy? Can He take pride in us as His children; are we growing into mature Christians?
Sadly, many are still in the infant stage.
“But I, brothers, could not address you as spiritual people, but as people of the flesh, as infants in Christ. I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for it. And even now you are not yet ready, for you are still of the flesh. For while there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not of the flesh and behaving only in a human way (1 Corinthians 3:1-3 ESV)?”
Admittedly, His children have many faults and failures. Yet, the heavenly Father loves to brag on His children.
“And the Lord said to Satan, ‘Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil (Job 1:8 ESV)?”
Can God brag on me: do I daily turn from evil?
