Hallelujah; there is a river!
“There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High (Psalm 46:4 KJV).”
“And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb (Revelation 22:1 KJV).”
I’ve never seen the proverbial Mississippi Ol' Man but frequently cross over the Mississippi River. Both Greenville and Vicksburg cities are a short drive from home. We cross magnificent Mississippi River bridges to enter each historic city. The river is over 2,000 miles long and more than a mile wide in some locations; I’d say it’s earned the Mighty Mississippi designation.
In contrast, we’ve crossed mile after mile of barren desert in Arizona and California before reaching fertile valleys of the Golden State. A person could get mighty thirsty in that arid climate.
Jesus' message directs us to rivers of fulfillment.
"If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water (John 7:37b-38 KJV)."
The Messiah wants to quench your thirst.
“But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life (John 4:14 KJV).”
